PS3 Problems Solved? Well 50% Of Them

Well what a bizarre turn of events. Whilst the Murray match was off on brake for the roof on the Centre Court being closed, I decided to have a quick go on the PS3.

Now for the past few weeks the 320gb PS3 has taken upon itself to not play either standard DVD's or PS1 games. To which I had no solution on how to fix this, even looking at youtube and troubleshooting sites for how to fix this did not really help because the main problems people had was that their PS3s were not playing PS3 games. So not a lot of help there, but the same result ensued.

The system would scan for the disc and then make a noise like it's about to eject the disc but it does not and then nothing. So how did I fix this? Purely by accident as I had reset the system to its default setting, I then proceeded to download Crash Bandicoot 3 from the PSN store. Because it saved the game onto the hard drive it worked with no problems.

But I noticed the game looked a little fuzzy on screen and also stretched to fit the size of the TV. So I reset the game and changed the settings and started the game. Again it was fine, so I decided to have another go of trying a PS1 disc so I chose Doom at random and put the disc in. Result = Not working as I would have probably expected, but I then decided to reset the system again and try Doom. This time it worked :-) So having the game now working I changed the PS Up-Scaler to Normal and the PS Smoothing to on and this time the Doom disc would not work. So the only conclusion was that the Upscaler and Smoothing options were the reason for the PS1 discs not working.

So narrowing it down further, the Smoothing option had no impact but it was the Up-Scaler option that was the direct cause of my problems with PS1 games on disc. I tried some other PS1 games just to make sure that it wasn't a fluke.

So that was one problem solved, but DVD's still don't work. :-(

Right then,

I have decided to enter the realm of the blogs, known as Planet Zog to some. I have been encouraged by several people to do this, so I have decided to give this a crack and to see where this takes me.

I will post on various issues from the serious to the not so serious. I would also like to share with you any points of interest via this blog and also my Twitter account @brooksyF22.
Hope you like this and I appreciate the support.
